I have been off school for a whole six days. While my sleep schedule is still jacked, I have been using the time to clean up the garden, design my sister's wedding invitations, use up the herbs in the pantry, finally put string lights on the back patio...and finish some other feng shui-ish stuff. The dog is good with it.
For the herbs - my latest flavor habit is fresh lemon + crushed red pepper. It works well tossed with pasta, olive oil, and butter. I have not been classy enough to add some arugula to it. My other favorite herb creation is lavender honey simple syrup. This recipe is easy to follow and it also includes a cocktail recipe. I also used some dried jasmine flowers for a simple syrup, but I think it needs more steeping time. I may try a jasmine tea simple syrup recipe like this one next time for better flavor. They taste great with just club soda, or with Four Roses bourbon, lemon juice, and ice. I'll be back later with garden updates.
